Nirju is a consultant with ICCo. She has over 20 years of experience in development sector handling collaborative projects with key organizations such as UNICEF, EdCIL India, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) among others. Earlier, she has worked with Assam Mahila Samata Society (AMSS) for 17 years to implement the National Mahila Samakhya program of Government of India as Programme Officer, including 6 years as an Assistant Director. Nirju carriesstrong grassroot experience related to holistic empowerment of rural marginalized women, life skill education for adolescents, child rights and protection, institution building of women and gender issues, livelihood promotion, thrift and credit and proposal development, policy influencing etc. Her initiative called Data Exhibition in Mahila Samakhya program to strengthen Gram Panchayat Development through the involvement of neo-literate women was recognized by National Mission for Empowerment of Women for replication in other states. She is also experienced on working with small farmers, especially women farmers and helping them develop social enterprise, nutrition security for women and child. She holds a Master Degree in Sociology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management.
